Twins Offense Explodes as Slowey Goes Distance
The Twins offense couldn't get anything going off of Kansas City starter Zach Greinke until the fourth inning, when left fielder Jason Kubel launched a solo homer. He, Jim Thome, Joe Mauer, and Justin Morneau would also later homer as the Twins went on a rampage, scoring a totla of ten runs. Starter Kevin Slowey went all nine, giving up six runs on fifteen hits. "Had the bullpen not be overworked," said manager Rod Gardenhire of the odd complete game, "[Slowey] would've been out in the sixth or seventh." Nonetheless, the Twins came out victorious to take a 3 game lead over the Chicago White Sox, who lost in Los Angeles, in the American League Central.
