| '69 Mets triumph over Yankees |
| The 1969 Mets won today on a strong showing from Tom Seaver. Tom was terrific, as he struck out 9 in 8 1/3 innings pitched, yielding only one run. The game was close, mainly because of the heroics of Cleon Jones, Buddy Harrelson, and Art Shamsky. Tug McGraw did his best to lose in the bottom of the 9th, but managed to close out the 9th inning. The final score was 9-3 Mets over Yankees at the Astrodome. |
