Stieb, Jays beat Indians 3-1
Dave Stieb pitched eight solid innings, managing to get himself out of a jam or two as the Blue Jays defeated the Cleveland Indians 3-1 at Exhibition Stadium. Rance Mulliniks hit a home run for the Blue Jays who built a 3-0 lead through four innings off Cleveland starter Neal Heaton. Pat Tabler spoiled the shutout bid in the top of the fifth with a solo shot. Tom Henke continued his dominance pitching a 1-2-3 9th for the save.
